Meet Alisse. She is Beauty Revived.

When I reached out to the social media world regarding nominations for outstanding seniors to represent the Beauty Revived movement, one response definitely stood out. Another senior actually sent me a note about someone who inspired her. She told me about a young woman’s involvement in multiple clubs, including one community service group she had helped to create. The email nomination ended with, “She has the most bubbly personality and contagious smile that can literally light up a room.” That was when I knew I had to meet this senior, and I am so honored to be able to introduce her to you!

When she and her mom discussed her nomination for this project, Alisse hum-bly stated, “I haven’t really done anything special,” but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Alisse is a 17-year-old standout. What sets her apart, what makes her special, is the grace with which she lives every day and her heart for serving others. She is real, she is authentic, and she is a role model for all young women. She is inspiring and modest and kind-hearted and driven. It is these qualities that make her Beauty Revived.

From the moment that I met Alisse, I knew she was different, and that her story had to be shared. I also knew I would love capturing Alisse’s captivating smile and contagious laugh, and as you can see, her personality definitely shined through. She is energetic, spirited, and fun. She truly reflects happiness, and as I spent more time with Alisse, I became so hopeful in knowing that this was the type of young woman who would affect positive changes on our world.

Alisse is an honor student, an athlete, a leader, a friend, and a daughter. She is involved in more school activities and organizations than I can count. After being awarded the Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) by her local Rotary Club, she attended a two-day leadership seminar which ignited her interest in serving her community. Along with other RYLA recipients and students, Alisse helped develop and launch the youth organization INTERACT at her school.

INTERACT organizes at least two service projects a year: one that benefits their community; and one that encourages international understanding. Through INTERACT, Alisse and other students have been involved in several community service projects ranging from fundraisers and clean-up programs, to helping the elderly, and participating in charitable events.

While INTERACT receives guidance from individual Rotary clubs, they govern and support themselves. Alisse explained that it was truly on the ground floor, and she and other members had so many ideas for the organization’s future. She also expressed that she plans to remain involved with INTERACT well beyond high school graduation, making this an organization that will grow and thrive for years to come. I think it is outstanding to have a local organization lead by students who encourage other teens to get involved in giving back.

Alisse’s strength is in her ability to care for and show love to others, without reservation. Whether it’s talking to the new girl alone in the cafeteria, or showing up at a friend’s house unexpectedly with a smile and ice cream during a breakup, Alisse thrives on bringing positivity to every situation.

In life, and in sports, Alisse is a positive force. She has volunteered her time serving as a positive role model to many young girls at local sports camps throughout her high school years. Not only does she help teach skills of the game, but also how to be a good sport and teammate. Alisse has been said to, “embrace her role with grace and happiness.” As a team member, she is quick to congratulate teammates on their accomplishments, and, although she strives for individual success, she places the accomplishments of her team above her personal aspirations. It thrills me to know that this young woman will do amazing things for our community, our country, and our world!

As for the future, Alisse plans to study Marketing in the Fall of 2017. She would like to continue playing soccer in college and hasn’t made a final decision on which school she would like to attend. However, you can be assured that she will make the best out of every situation and spread laughter, light, and love wherever she goes!
