Meet Aslyn. She is Beauty Revived.

In our beautiful state of Colorado, you will find no shortage of dog and animal lovers. However, a child that is so selfless and passionate regarding animals and their well-being… well that is rare and beautiful occurrence.

Aslyn’s aunt nominated her for the honor of 50 beautiful children and had many wonderful things to say about the sweet girl. Her aunt explained that despite her young age, Aslyn is so incredibly passionate about animals; she is not only helping homeless animals in our area but is also constantly giving back to organizations that help them. Someone with Aslyn’s kindness and strong character is rare, especially at such a young age.

When a child’s first word is “bark”, as it was with Aslyn, one would expect her love of animals to simply be part of who she is. But it is how she came to love them so deeply, that is quite remarkable. In 2012, her area was severely impacted by wildfires- affecting not only humans, but also the many lost pets and subsequently homeless animals of all kind. It was soon after this tragedy that Ashlyn became one of the Humane Society’s biggest advocates.

Immediately upon meeting Aslyn, I realized why this young lady is so special to many around her. She has such a calm presence, and a sincere, sweet smile that occupies most of her freckled face. She is a little reserved as one would expect meeting an adult for the first time, but her face immediately lit up when spending time with her own pet, a large and goofy Newfoundland dog named Brighton.

While I was photographing her, it was clear to me that Aslyn is a humble being despite having so much to boast about. I asked her about some of the volunteer work she does, but she was a bit shy to explain about all the work she puts in to help animals that need her love and care. Luckily, her loved ones readily shared with me all that she does to help those that need it most. Aslyn started volunteering at the Humane Society at the age of 6. By making dog treats and helping to clicker train dogs, Aslyn helps the furry beings who need the most help and love. She has been attending camps at the Humane Society for a few years to gain a better understanding of homeless animals, their needs and the Society’s needs. Aslyn also enjoys making blankets for homeless pets and has spent her free time collecting cans that will be donated to the Humane Society to be redeemed for cash for much needed supplies. And while other kids love getting presents for their birthdays, Aslyn has been incredibly generous as to collect donations for the shelter instead of gifts.

It was an honor to meet this young lady who spends her free time performing selfless acts so that these animals may have a better life. It is no surprise to hear that Aslyn wants to be a veterinarian when she gets a bit older. But it is not just the animals in our community have already benefitted from Aslyn’s big heart. As her mom explains, Aslyn has such huge heart for anything that lives and breathes- her family, friends and classmates all have benefited from Aslyn’s acts of kindness. I can only imagine what this soft-spoken, bright, and selfless lady will do when she is older. Aslyn understands it is not enough to love animals; she wants to make the world a better place for them. And certainly, the world needs Aslyn’s kindness, generosity and heart.n our beautiful state of Colorado, you will find no shortage of dog and animal lovers.
