Meet Beth. She is Beauty Revived.
Written by Brad (Beth’s Husband)
Beth was pregnant with our second little one Ryan when she found out that she had a brain tumor. She had been experiencing headaches and wanted to make sure everything was ok. The OB sent her to get an MRI. She thought it was just migraines, and there was nothing to worry about it. It turned out our worst fears were true, she was diagnosed with a Grade II Diffuse Astrocytoma.
Following Ryan’s birth Beth had her first brain surgery in July 2012. She recovered completely and went on living her life. During the time following her surgery, she took an interest in photography. She put all her time and effort into learning everything she could possibly learn. She opened up her business two years later. Beth has always lived with the routine MRIs and tests and never really thought much about if the tumor would come back.
Three years following her surgery Beth went in for a routine MRI and received horrible news. Her tumor had started to grow again and she would need to have another surgery. In July 2015, she underwent an awake craniotomy in order to take out as much of the tumor as possible. This surgery was much more difficult. The swelling in her brain was tremendous and caused her to loose the ability to speak. She was transferred to a long term rehabilitation facility at Johns Hopkins Hospital, where she stayed for four days and then was released. Once the swelling started to go down, her ability to speak slowly started to come back. She started speech therapy three times a week and still continues with speech therapy once a week. It is absolutely astonishing how far she has come in the last four months. She went from not being able to speak at all to now being able to hold a full conversation!
I wanted to nominate Beth because she is absolutely phenomenal. Through it all she has always kept her head up. Through all the frustrations, and loosing the ability to speak, she continued to push herself to overcome all that was in front of her. She truly is my inspiration to me and to my two beautiful children! She continuously donates her time to wonderful volunteer organizations including Three Little Birds for Life! She was able to grant a wish to another Brain Tumor Survivor for this organization. She also volunteered to photograph a little girl suffering from arthritis for the Beauty Revived Campaign. She cares so much for others, she is such a great role model for everyone! I am so proud of her inspiration and dedication to others. She rarely takes time for herself and is always thinking of others. I am so proud to call her my wife and mother to our two little ones!
About the Photographer
I’m Yehudis, of Yehudis Goldfarb Photography, and my passion is documenting real emotions and real life. It may be my Master of Social Work that drives this desire to photograph families in a deep and meaningful way and combined with a love of natural light and the way it illuminates – you have the recipe for a perfect career for me.
My goal is to create an experience where you can let go of expectations and embrace the everyday beauty of your family. To remind you of the most incredible job you do every day: raising your children. To allow the uniqueness of your family shine. This style of photography is called life inspired imagery and it’s an honest reflection of life as it is. Today. And I’ll be there to tell that story of the love between your family. You’ll look back on these photographs as reminders of yesterday’s moments with nostalgia and smile.
