Meet Lara. She is Beauty Revived.
“I think kindness is what makes a person truly beautiful on the inside. I believe a person can have many other fantastic qualities but if they aren’t kind, what’s the use to those other qualities?” – Lara
When I first met Lara, I knew she was absolutely special. Aside from being beautiful on the outside, she is truly a wonderful and exemplary young woman. In six months, she has accrued more than 173 hours of community service with various charities and events which is absolutely astounding for her age!
In Lara’s spare time she enjoys acting and sewing and she has even created her own literacy project called “Hopping To Happiness: A Bunny & A Book.” Lara will sew bunnies and pair them with a children’s book to give to children for free. “My goal is to make kids think of reading in a positive way. I want them to think of it as fun. I have handed these out to many kids in my community and hope that it has impacted them positively,” Lara said.
Other charities & community events she has volunteered with include Walk4Literacy, Walk to End Alzheimers, Strauss Festival, Sacramento Women’s Expo, Farm-To-Fork Festival, Elk Fest, and Franklin Library Craft Fair.
Some of Lara’s latest projects include emceeing a fashion show for the Project R.I.D.E Spaghetti Feed, which pairs children in need of assistance with therapy horses. During the fashion show, many of these amazing kids were able to strut their stuff on the runway. “I loved seeing the unique experience of having their ‘moment’ on stage where they could really have fun and express themselves.” she said. At the Giant Pumpkin Festival she volunteered with the Food Bank, by raising money for them and collecting food donations. And she was named Youth Ambassador in the 2016 & 2017 Multicultural Festival by being a good role model and for all of her work within the community.
Lara is an amazing representative for her generation, and she has had to overcome some hurdles to get there. Lara is French Canadian and didn’t move to the United States until she was 12. While in Canada she attended an all-French school where every subject was taught in French and it was the only language spoken in school, with the exception of her weekly English class. When she moved here she had to not only adjust to a new school, but adjusting to a new country, new customs and attending school in a different language. Oh, and let’s not forget converting from the metric system in Canada to the American standard system! Yet still, she excels.
During Lara’s session, it’s easy to see why she was my Beauty Revived pick. She just lights up a room, you can tell she is kind, dedicated, completely charismatic and is poised well beyond her years. She’s easy-going and sweet natured. She is the definition of Beauty Revived. She uses her talents to help others, she promotes kindness and can inspire other children easily with her approachable & warm personality. She spends so much of her free time giving back and adding to her community.
