Meet Makaela. She is Beauty Revived.
If there were one word that I would use to describe Makaela it would be Driven! This girl knows what she wants, dreams big, and reaches for the stars. Since a young age she has known that she wants to be an Equine Veterinarian. She loves animals, especially her horses. Through school she has made sure to take classes that would help her achieve her goal. She maintains a 3.9 GPA while still managing to stay active in school sports and activities. She is an active member of her school FFA (Future Farmers of America) organization. All summer long she raises and takes care of her animals to show in our local county fair.
Soccer is also another passion of Makaela’s. She is on the high school soccer team and plays offensive wing. This year she received the most improved player award, for her hard work and dedication to the sport that she loves. She along with the rest of her soccer team were recognized by the local newspaper as representing our community well by showing great sportsmanship, dedication and keeping a positive attitude through adversity.
For the past 4 years she has played the violin in her high school orchestra, as well as being concert mistress for a few of their concerts. Makaela was also a member of the Northern Utah Youth Symphony for 3 years, a regional orchestra composed of the top orchestra students throughout the region. They were able to compete at the Utah Youth Symphony Festival at Abravanel Hall in Salt Lake. Music has always been a passion of Makaela’s. She has played the piano since age 8 and has taught herself to play the guitar as well.
In addition to all of her school activities she works 2-3 different jobs, sometimes all at once. She has an after-school job, which she has worked at since 16. During the summers she farms with her grandfather and is an ambitious entrepreneur and sells her own produce at the local farmers market.
In addition to all her many talents Makaela is very kind, compassionate and willing to help others. She loves to lift others when they are down. All of her friends know that they can count on her to be there for them in their time of need. Makaela has the most beautiful smile, is very down to earth, friendly and easy to talk to. She is accepting of all people and makes friends easily.
Makaela has lost an aunt to domestic violence homicide and an uncle to suicide within the past 4 years. She has not let that define her, or get her down. She has joined me in attending and putting on many domestic violence awareness and suicide prevention events. Makaela helped our family put together a walk honoring her aunt and bring awareness to domestic violence. The monies earned from that event were donated to the local Women’s shelter. She knows the importance of bringing awareness to these social problems. She is not afraid to talk about what happened to her aunt and uncle. She educates her peers on the dangers and warning signs of these issues. She is a true advocate.
