Meet Monica. She is Beauty Revived.
They always say that there is no greater love than the love a mother has for her child. Just spend a few minutes with Mo and you realize the absolute truth behind those words.
“I love you to the moon and back.”
That is what the necklace she wears around her neck says. A reminder of those early, long days in the NICU reading her sweet, preemie baby boy “Guess How Much I Love You?”
The tattoo on her leg bears the word “Rocket” the nickname she gave to the boy who overcame medical hurdles and fills her heart.
Her blazing red hair provides a hint about the woman she is. Strong, spirited, selfless, full of joy and compassion with a wicked sense of humor. She is a bit shy, especially in front of the camera. But get her laughing and the world lights up. Get her talking about her son and she lights up.
She is made of substance. She shares openly about her divorce, about raising her son as a single mom, about fighting for his health, and embracing life. She is a lesson in hope and grace and perseverance.
She laughs as he shows me how he can twist his limbs into unnerving positions. She makes him stop but can’t help but smile adoringly at the things that make him so uniquely him. So uniquely hers.
Her eyes shine when she reads the words her friends have freely shared about her:
“She is a mom to everyone’s children- from mine to all the kids at the Elementary school, where she is the school secretary- she considers them her own and it shows.”
“She is a wonderful mom and a role model of warmth and kindness for all of the kids in her school. “
“She brings her full self to every interaction with the children in our neighborhood and invites them to join her in the open and welcome celebration of every new day with her son.”
“She is humble, yet strong-willed. Her humor is outrageous. She has an incredibly generous spirit. She is quick-witted. But, her love for children, is the absolute most beautiful thing about Ms. Mo.”
“Mo has a beautiful soul that can light up a room. She is a wonderful friend, and is always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. She is thoughtful, warm and a great listener. Mo is a wonderful mother and her love for her son knows no bounds. Best of all, she has a great sense of humor and can make you laugh in an instant!”
“Mo is beautiful from her amazing smile and contagious laugh, to her enormous heart and kind soul. She has treated our family as HER family, and has never said no when we have needed her. “
Her soul shines when she wraps her arms around her not so little boy.
She is the picture of motherhood.
A portrait of beauty.
Mo is beauty revived.
